Robert Reich: My nomination for worst corporation in America: Chevron.

My nomination for worst corporation in America: Chevron. Larger than GM or Apple, it’s been funneling millions to Republican candidates. Worse yet, it bullies communities like Richmond, California, which had the audacity to take Chevron to court to improve safety after Chevron’s refinery there caught fire and the toxic fumes sickened thousands. Chevron’s response has been to back its own slate of candidates for mayor and city council with a $3 million blitz of corporate money heaped on this town of 107,000 inhabitants -- including a fake website disguised to look like it’s from the community, an avalanche of mailings, push polls, and every billboard in town.
Here’s hoping the citizens of Richmond fight this corporate behemoth and win November 4. As to the rest of us: Boycott Chevron.
