世界/社會"無法"在隔離防疫之後更美好; Governor Kemp’s decision is going to cost Georgians their lives (Robert Reich)

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp announced today that fitness centers, bowling alleys, barbers, hair and nail salons, and massage therapy businesses will be able to reopen across the state as soon as this Friday, while theaters and restaurants will be able to reopen the following Monday. Georgia has nearly 19,000 confirmed coronavirus cases, and over 700 deaths as of today.
This is simply horrifying. Governor Kemp’s decision is going to cost Georgians their lives, and other Republican governors in South Carolina and Tennessee are following suit. These governors choosing to put their constituents’ lives at risk must understand this: this is not an economic crisis. It's a public health crisis. The answer is not to stimulate the economy; it's to keep people safe. The goal is not to reopen businesses; it's for people to stay home with enough income to pay the bills. Make no mistake: people will die because of these governors’ willful lunacy.
