美國知名運動品牌NIKE創始人奈特(Phil Knight)最近受訪提到，去年8月NIKE停掉高爾夫球具事業，原因是20年來年年虧錢，耐特說：「我們在球具和球上虧了20多年，我們發現就算堅持下去也不會有什麼改變。」

奈特雖未指名道姓，但從時間來看虧錢主因就是伍茲(Tiger Woods)，NIKE在1996年與伍茲簽約，鉅資量身打造球具，估計每年支付4000~6000萬美元(約12.1~18.2億台幣)不等贊助合約，儘管伍茲多次傳不名譽新聞，NIKE仍不離不棄，但終究未反映在產品銷售，沉重贊助金成為壓垮品牌最後一根稻草。(記者陳國偉)
