你在臉書或新聞網站點了一篇推薦球鞋的圖文，隨後瀏覽的網頁會一直出現球鞋廣告，這種跨網站追蹤機制，就植基於「第三方Cookie」。
然而，這個網路世界的主流規則日漸動搖，甚至可能碎裂瓦解，Google年初宣布，2年內將在Chrome瀏覽器淘汰第三方Cookie，簡言之，網站將無法與廣告商、合作友站交換用戶的瀏覽資料。
這些行動背後的原因，除了歐盟嚴格的個資法規GDPR，預計今年夏天施行的「加州消費者隱私法」（CCPA），也對企業運用第三方資料進行明確限制。因應日益緊縮的網路隱私規範，Google表態跟進，將實驗一連串「隱私沙盒」，逐步取代第三方Cookie。
第三方Cookie一旦走入歷史，首當其衝的是廣告行銷業者，其次將連帶衝擊新聞網站、社群平台及各種內容網站。
