NEW STUDY: Oxford scientists have identified the gene responsible for doubling the risk of respiratory failure from #COVID19.
The gene, LZTFL1, is found in 60% of people with South Asian ancestry, compared to 15% of those with European ancestry. The researchers believe the gene could partly explain the excess deaths seen in some UK communities, and the impact of #COVID19 in the Indian subcontinent.

The rising number of cases of Covid-19 in Europe is of “grave concern” and the region could see another half a million deaths by early next year, the World Health Organization warned on Thursday.
